Superman and Lois can present a version of Lex Luthor that DC avoided

Superman and Lois may present a version of Lex Luthor that has never been used before, from the graphic novel Superman: Earth One. There are many benefits of Superman and Lois disconnecting in the Arrowverse, as revealed in the Season 2 finale. One of these positives could be in the way Superman and Lois debut in her specific version of Lex Luthor, with the potential for Alexandra Luthor to play the evil role.

In Superman: Earth One, Dr. Alexandra Luthor is the wife of Dr. Alexander Luthor and has a more suspicious view of Superman than her husband. In Superman: Earth One Vol. 3, Alexander gives his life to help the Man of Steel stop General Zod, but his sacrifice doesn’t go well with his wife, who swears revenge on Superman. She also declares that her old self is dead with her husband and she takes on the new identity of Lex Luthor.

While Jon Cryer played Lex Luthor in Supergirl, who was part of the Arrowverse, Superman and Lois have yet to use the Man of Steel’s most sworn enemy. In itself, that would give the show a lot of leeway as to when and how Lex might arrive, but Superman and Lois being in a separate reality from the Arrowverse expands those possibilities. One option would be for the show to mark Alexandra Luthor’s live-action debut in her Lex Luthor identity with a very different type of story arc than hers.

Superman and Lois could show a new version of Lex Luthor with Alexandra

In many comic book stories, as well as in their film and television adaptations, Lex Luthor has a more personal revenge against Superman than the other Man of Steel villains. Both his pre-crisis origin and his Smallville story somehow connected Superman to Lex Luthor’s hair loss. Alexandra’s anger towards Superman is similar to other versions of Lex Luthor as she misinterprets an event and blames the hero. It is also a connection that is emotionally based in a specific way. From Alexandra’s point of view, she has lost her husband to Superman, and her anger and her rejection blind her to the truth.

Alexandra as a tragedy and heartbroken version of Lex Luthor, plus the gender swap it would facilitate, has never been attempted in other Superman movies and TV shows. While still carrying Lex’s scientific genius and business acumen, Alexandra would fit in perfectly with how Superman and Lois already favor the remodeling of Kal-El villains, as seen with Morgan Edge being revealed as Tal-Rho and Ally Allston as a reinvented version of Parasite. With Superman and Lois creating other characters, the fact that Alexandra Luthor has never been adapted to live-action before would be huge for Superman and Lois with just her announcement as the portrayal on the show of a female Lex Luthor would be a major event. .

Superman and Lois has been a great home for Superman villains who haven’t had as many live opportunities. For the most famous villains of the Man of Steel, such as Lex Luthor, General Zod and Brainiac, Superman and Lois’s practice of revamping characters should continue for as long as possible. With the possibilities for Lex Luthor, Superman and Lois would have no better choice than Alexandra Luthor to seek her revenge on the DC superhero.
