ASSE

Aim ! : Sylvain, when did you create Green Prospect ?

SYLVAIN: It was during confinement, almost three years ago. It kept me busy. I had this project for several years and I had time to develop it. Before, I mainly edited videos to present young people, especially the Gambardella generation. We developed Green Prospect with my friend Erick. He supports me. I needed someone because I also joined Peuple Vert, alongside Alexandre and Romain.

Do you often go to see the youth teams?

I have to see about fifteen reserve matches per season. Same for the U19s and the U17s. And I also go to see the U16s and the U15s. I talk a lot with other people who like training, whether at ASSE or in other clubs. Also with trainers. It’s interesting.

Are you surprised that few winners of the Coupe Gambardella 2019 have succeeded?

It’s true that apart from William Saliba and Wesley Fofana… The disappointment is Charles Abi. I thought he would be able to impose himself. Bilal Benkhedim, I think he forgot himself a bit, but we blocked his horizon with Adil Aouchiche and we saw the result. The one in whom I believe a lot is Aimen Moueffek. I hope he will finally solve his injury problem. In the end, we realize that in his youth project, Claude Puel gave a lot of people a chance. But it is above all the 2002s that have tasted the first team the most: Sow, Bakayoko, Nokoué, Rivera, Saban.

What do you think of the beginnings of Louis Mouton?

He surprises me. I thought he would lack a little explosiveness for the pro world but he is doing well. He finished strong last year in N3. It has a very interesting evolution. I even think he deserves to play more. He made a very good debut in L2. When he’s on the pitch, he’s good for the team, in a way where he doesn’t necessarily have a lot of competitors.

Laurent Batlles launched Jibril Othman recently, at the end of the match against Paris FC. Did that surprise you?

Not really. With Krasso’s suspension and Bile and Abi’s concerns, there aren’t many No. 9s available right now. Lhéry is injured. Othman benefited from a combination of circumstances but also from his very good start to the season. He scored 4 goals in four N3 matches. It is efficient. Afterwards, is he ready for L2, I’m not sure.

What do you think of the last two recruits, Anas Namri and Cheick Fall?

Namri plays right piston. He is very generous. We saw it in Amiens. He is a valiant. He has volume, he is able to repeat efforts. It has nothing to do in N3. As it’s a bit of a desert at his post, he may still have a say. Fall is a versatile offensive player. A visa problem had delayed his arrival. He starts strong with already 5 goals in six matches. He put four of the head! He’s not particularly tall but he has great timing. He’s an interesting player but he’s still raw, he hasn’t had any training and it shows, especially tactically.

“I really like Mathis Amougou. But I’m not the only one, there are big clubs who have a long record on him, including Manchester United. He is really a talented player and I hope that the leaders will quickly look into his case to protect him. »

Your view on El Hadji Dieye?

He is speed. He is super fast. He is a pure winger. But I find him a little too readable in his game, not creative enough. I think a player like Mathys Saban is ahead of him. He was slowed down by injuries but now he is coming back well. He is able to be decisive, to make differences. He has nothing to envy to some players in the squad.

What other players do you like?

I really like Mathis Amougou. But I’m not the only one, there are big clubs who have a long record on him, including Manchester United. He is really a talented player and I hope that the leaders will quickly look into his case to protect him. It would be a big blow to lose him. He is captain of the France U17 team when he is only 16 and a half years old. Aiki and Bile have great potential too. They are very popular. We managed to sign Aiki. Good, we’ll see. We know the situation, with his bloodshed in the selection. But in terms of football, we haven’t had a 9 like him in the center for a very long time. He has crazy potential.

The club should lose Noah Raveyre…

It’s a huge regret. He could have kept the cages of ASSE for ten years. He is from Le Puy, his family supports the Greens. He has been there since he was 13-14 years old. And it’s no coincidence that clubs like Chelsea and AC Milan want him. He has great qualities.

What do you think of Etienne Green’s start to the season?

It’s complicated for him. He is completely lacking in confidence. It was on cloud nine for 2-3 months when it started. He released a penalty, he was lucky with his amounts. And there, it’s quite the opposite, the planets no longer align at all. As soon as there is a strike, it goes. I find him too nice. He lacks personality. He must speak more, impose himself more.

Can Boubacar Fall be an option?

I do not know. He is coming back from injury. He has Champions League potential. He is huge, he goes fast, he is very strong in the air and on his line. But he has huge air holes, he can make amazing dumplings. It happened to him again recently. It’s double or quits, really.

“Overall, I find that ASSE trains well. The bridge between the center and the pros works, many young people manage to join the first team. Then, you have to be careful not to burn them. »

What is your view of the start of the ASSE season?

In the content, the production, we saw good things but we were not always rewarded. The scenarios were unfavorable, the facts of the game. But we are not efficient enough in the two surfaces and the results have penalized us. They are there, we have few points. We find ourselves in a very worrying situation.

Are you one of those who would like a change of direction?

Necessarily. We all hope that the club will change hands. He needs it to regain momentum. It goes through there. He is financially in dire straits and he had been playing with fire for a few seasons. Without the Covid, I don’t know if we would have stayed in 2020, I have my doubts. We ended up falling in L2 and we see that we are struggling to get up. We shoot at the training center by default, and fortunately it’s there because without the sales of Saliba, Fofana and Gourna… It’s difficult to have ambitions if you don’t have the money.

What do you think of Jean-François Soucasse’s governance?

I don’t know what he does every day. But he has been there for 16 months and the results, we know it: a descent into L2, a catastrophic start to the season. He had already gone down with Toulouse. He has a liability. We wonder.

Good young people should come out among the generations to come?

Without a doubt. There are good generations coming, the 2005, 2006, 2007. There are very good young people. Amougou, for example, is really strong. I would not be surprised to see him this season in reserve, at least. It is imperative to keep it. Overall, I find that ASSE trains well. The bridge between the center and the pros works, many young people manage to join the first team. Then, you have to be careful not to burn them. This is what sometimes happens when a youngster is started too early. This was the case for example with Maxence Rivera.
