Lamezia, planting of two pomegranate trees at the Galileo Galilei scientific high school for the beginning of the school year

Lamezia Terme – On the day of the school year, the Liceo Scientifico Galileo Galilei in Lamezia welcomed its students with an inauguration ceremony in the presence of civil and religious authorities. The welcome began with the blessing given by Don Antonio Colombino who, in reporting the message of Bishop Monsignor Serafino Parisi, indicated that it is “time to give a compass to our young people so as not to lose themselves and not succumb to anxieties and fears and concerns, but to live fully and responsibly to build a better reality with an eye always turned to the least ”. Professor Pina Luciano coordinated the work and after having brought greetings from the President Giovanni Garofalo, unable to take part in the ceremony, she gave the floor to the mayor Paolo Mascaro. The mayor urged young people not to be afraid and live this moment by forming a group and remaining united overcoming all the difficulties that will be encountered in school and in life. Below, Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Molinari, commander of the Compagnia dei Carabinieri of Lamezia Terme, in his speech urged the students not to forget how the civil and religious authorities who welcome the first day will be a constant reference point for life. Life that must be welcomed as a gift, an adventure from which to be amazed and which, for better or for worse, will allow us to become active citizens for our community and for our country / world. Following the beautiful wish of the lawyer Giancarlo Nicotera, President of the Municipal Council of Lamezia Terme, who in delivering the book “The wind against” to the Director Teresa Goffredo wished that every difficulty that will arise in life can be overcome with the support and the help of teachers who know how to accompany, understand and support and that every wound in life can become a loophole that allows you to see the world with a human gaze.

Maria Francesca De Pino, President of the Institute Council who as a mother reassured all the parents present, urged them to entrust their children with confidence to the Galileo teachers who, faithful to their task as educators, will be able to guide and accompany them in carrying out your own projects and dreams. Finally, the interventions by Alfredo Saladini and Michela Cimmino, members of the Observatory for inclusion, focused on how Galileo is a reality that tries to overcome the usual educational schemes: lesson, presentation and results, but looks at the person as such in its diversity, peculiarity, originality but also and above all fragility, including everyone and leaving no one behind. “The ceremony – they finally inform – ended with the planting of two pomegranate trees given by a parent with the hope that in our school they can produce what they mean: prosperity, abundance, good for everyone. The Director Prof. Teresa Teresa Goffredo listened to everyone with participation and respect, guaranteeing closeness and commitment for what will be necessary for the realization of the school year with the hope that it can be a peaceful journey, without interruptions and that the acute form of pandemic can only be a distant memory ” .
