Allan and little else among the things to be saved from a disastrous performance
The summer tour of Italy ends with a defeat, in the most important challenge. Georgia passes 28-19, against an Italy that after having recovered the initial disadvantage, has seen the game inexorably slip out of hand.
Ange Capuozzo 4.5 – Little was seen throughout the summer tour. Only one flash, in the second half, but Tedua loses on the first goal and above all the tackle on Niniashvili is missing in the third. A lot of effort on high balls.
Edoardo Padovani 4.5 – Bad, like everyone, on high balls. He plays with a frenzy that is not expected of him, making too many choices wrong in attack, and lacks the control of some balls that are all in all easy.
Ignacio Brex 5.5 – As always last bastion in defense, try to say his ball in hand too. He goes to butterflies with Menoncello on the aerial contest with Niniashvili, which costs the goal at the end of the first half.
Marco Zanon 5 – Starts well, then gets lost along the way. In the second half he plays a few minutes, then Crowley sacrifices him to go to double play.
Tommaso Menoncello 5 – Well the goal, but otherwise many, too many errors. On the high balls there is no jump time on both the second and third Georgian marking.
Thomas Allan 6.5 – The best of the blues. He tries several times to create space and opportunities for the trocar, which does not support him adequately. From the pitch he has one of his best days, but unfortunately it is not enough.
Alessandro Garbisi 5.5 – In the first half he is among the best for clarity and technical quality. In the second half he loses the game, like most of his teammates, and begins to miss elementary steps.
Toa Halafihi 4.5 – Undertone. His yellow costs Italy 10 ‘outnumbered in the most delicate phase of the match.
Michele Lamaro 4.5 – In the chaos of the second half he had the task of taking his boys by the hand. In hindsight it’s getting easier, but he pays for some questionable tactical choices.
Federico Ruzza 6 – In the lineout, when he does not get impregnable balls even with stilts, he is the main blue safety. And even in the middle of the field it is a guarantee.
Marco Fuser 6 – A lot of dirty work and some useful breaks to gain meters, and it didn’t happen often to the Azzurri in this match. When it comes out, Italy drops.
Niccolò Cannone 5 – He alternates mistakes with good things, as he has become accustomed to. With the physicality he has, he could and should have done more, especially in games like this.
Simone Ferrari 5.5 – Alternating phases in melee. He holds out even after the Georgian changes, but fails to give the consistency and concreteness they needed.
Gianmarco Lucchesi 4 – Very bad at the launch, where he gives balls that Georgia had not even contested. He devours a goal already made at the end of the first half, anticipating too much the exit from the maul.
Danilo Fischetti 5 – Like Ferrari, in the fray he takes and gives, but much more was expected from someone like him, especially in the middle of the field.
From the bench:
Giacomo Nicotera 5.5 – He puts back the blue throw, but it is not enough.
Ivan Nemer 6 – His entry coincides with the best moment of Italy in the fray. Ball in hand fails to express his potential, but he is among the least guilty.
Ion Neculai 5 – In the fray he cannot change the inertia, in the middle of the field he cannot be seen.
David Sisi sv – Come in when the game is compromised
Giovanni Pettinelli 5 – Usually it is the most reliable of the third blue in terms of workrate, but in Batumi it is practically invisible.
Renato Giammarioli 5 – You hardly see it, and when it loads it hits the Georgian wall.
Alessandro Fusco 5.5 – He tries to put some order, and then to accelerate, but he can’t give light to a team without ideas.
Paolo Garbisi 5 – Against Romania, his entry as second playmaker allowed the Azzurri to accelerate and close the game, this time it doesn’t happen. The flicker is missing
