Guillaume Lazerges captain of Sporting.

Once again we didn’t take the game the right way. We had a lot of trouble getting out of our camp but we managed to hold the ball despite too many mistakes. At times the machine started but there are still a lot of positive things missing in our game. The team is going through a bit of a difficult time and we can’t find our real game that we had for a few years. What is encouraging today are the three youngsters who came on and I think they won us this match. We have the means to do better but we are not fully confident even if on the pitch we give the maximum. We had a lot of difficulties in the line-up sector but we see that the work in training is starting to pay off.

Louis Heymans still a junior pillar.

I feel safe with Rémi (Gomes) by my side and I try to bring everything I can to the group. Taking the score was difficult but we fought until the end. In melee and penetrating groups we have been conquerors since the start of the season.

Coarraze-Nay fullback Dilan Vaquero.

We lacked discipline but taking a defensive bonus point here bodes well for the rest of the season. We could see the physiognomy of the match hope for better and we will work to prepare the next block. We still leave a little frustrated.

Didier Lemasson president of Sporting.

We played a good team today, very correct and well run, it is not by chance that they are at the top of the classification. Our team was more efficient in touch, the scrum was equal to itself and we again had the desire to produce play from wide. This year we have a workforce that has evolved with the integration of young players. Considering the opposition, I have seen one of Sporting’s best games this season.

Despite their superiority in the scrum, in touch and in the penetrating groups, the Saint-Gironnais remained under threat from the Béarnais until the last second. They lost a lot of balls on attacks that could end in the in-goal and made a lot of mistakes in the ground fight. The first try is the result of a group penetrating winner who offers a ball to Lazerges, which directly serves his center R. Bocheese who, with determination, goes between the posts. The Verst and Blacks take the lead in the score (7-6) for only a few minutes. Visitors get and convert a third penalty. Thanks to a fourth, the Coarraze-Nay players lead 7-12 at halftime.

Returning from the locker room, the third line Boinau ends between the posts an attack from Saint-Gironnais which swept the entire field (52nd). Sporting goes back in front. But the crossover continues and the visitors pass a new penalty just after to regain the lead in the score (114-15). For his return, captain Guillaue Lazerges then adjusts a penalty in the 64th minute. A success that will be synonymous with victory for the Couserannais. On the last action of the match, the men of captain Lazerges find themselves able to register the test of the offensive bonus but an opposing counter on interception is stopped a few meters from their goal line.

The suspense was total until the end of a match of exemplary correction with locals determined to bring the ball to life but who exposed themselves to Béarnais counterattacks and their terribly effective defense.

Reserve teams.- The Saint-Gironnaise reserve team, despite a difficult first half, won 32-15, scored 5 tries and obtained the offensive bonus in the last minutes.

Guillaume Lazerges (captain and scrum-half of Saint-Girons): “Once again we didn’t take the game the right way. Dilan Vaquero (back of Coarraze-Nay): “We lacked discipline but taking a defensive bonus point at Saint-Girons bodes well for the rest of the season. We could, given the face of the match, hope for better and we will work to prepare for the next block. We let’s leave a little frustrated all the same”.

Didier Lemasson (president of Saint-Girons): “We played a good, very decent and well-established team. It’s no coincidence that they are at the top of the table. Our team performed better in touch, the scrum was equal to itself and we again had the desire to produce play at large. This year, we have a squad that has evolved with the integration of young players. Considering the opposition, I have seen one of Sporting’s best matches this season.” .
